T Stands for This and That

Hi everyone. Happy new week to you, and for all those stopping by for T day over at Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's  blog.   Happy T day to you also.

Last week was a busy week for me. We had great weather until the end of the week when it was a mix of sun, clouds and rain. Then the rain  arrived. The rain started this past Saturday afternoon and the forecast shows it right through the middle of this week. While the weather was good I wanted to get out and enjoy it. There was a peaceful morning walk with the dogs one day.

There was more yard work, including getting the bee hives ready for new bees. My first batch ships this week.  Hurrah. I'm missing them buzzing around on the nice days. The second batch ships next week. I only have 2 hives. I hope this year I can have them both buzzing and full of happy bees all season and through next winter too.

Last year's bees left behind a huge amount of honey when they absconded last fall. I would have harvested it, but I had treated the hives for mites not all that long before and I really don't like the idea of eating honey that has those chemicals in it.

Of course if I knew they were going to abandon the hive I wouldn't have treated them for mites and harvested the honey instead.

There should be plenty of early season fodder for these new bees though.

I also had an appointment and lots of errands one day, and my husband had to go into Boston for his annual kidney transplant exam on another. It'll be 8 years this week since he received a new kidney, and for those who didn't know me then, he received his new kidney from me. It's still going strong 😀.

Our drive into Boston was HORRIBLE though.  Boston is not known for easy driving (like many cities), but this drive was one of the worst in a long long time.  When we were about 2-3 miles away from the hospital, we got stuck in traffic (and not our first back up). It took us an hour to drive that minuscule distance.  No accident or construction either, just crazy traffic.  We could have walked it quicker.

The exciting news is that this past weekend Pop's opened for the season. 👍

The bad news is that the weather was wet, and it wasn't worth waiting in the rain to order.  Maybe we'll get there next weekend.

Instead for my T day drink, I'll share a photo from a visit to Sebago Brewing in Gorham, Maine. This photo is from a  couple of weekends ago.  We met up with my sister-in-law, her husband, their daughter, her husband plus their baby. It was the first time we met baby Jack. (But sorry no photos as the niece doesn't want the baby shown online.)

The hubby and I shared this margarita pizza and I had brown beer.

That's all for me this week. Have a happy T day and week ahead.

That pizza looked great. What's a brown beer? Same as stout?

Now I know what happened to your bees last fall. I knew the one batch was doing well. I wonder where they went and if they lived through the winter.

Your trip to Boston must have been a nightmare. Even LA traffic is faster than that. And it can be really stop and go at times.

Too bad about Pop's but that pizza is making me hungry. It looks and sounds delicious. What is brown beer? Not stout, I'm guessing.

Thanks for sharing your walk with the dogs, the bee situation, your pizza, and beer with us for T this Tuesday, dear Erika.

Sad about the lost honey for "nothing".
Very best luck with the new ones. I had one here last week, she was so busy, it was sweet!!!
Great "your" kidney is so strong!!!!
Gah, traffic jam! It once took me 4 hours for 40 km (24miles?).
Yippee for your Pop´s! And big NAY for the Shietwetter. Sad no baby-pic. My SIL is the same...
But the Pizza is looking sooooo good! Cheers to the beer! Have a nice T-Day and week, hugs!

Most cities are choking in traffic and we keep increasing the population so it’s unlikely to improve. Hope that all was well after your husband’s check up. All the best - David

I drove once in Boston. I thought I was going to die! But so good that after eight years, your husband is going strong. Very sad, though, about losing all the honey. I would have been hesitant to harvest it after the mite treatment too, but so much! I'm excited about your new bees. I hope they settle in well.

Ugh that traffic, I can't handle being stuck in traffic like that. Wow I didn't know about your kidney, that was great that you were compatible! Good to know about your bees, I was wondering if they survived the winter, but they had already left? The pizza looks delish. Happy T Day! oh before I forget, you asked me about foiling and I forgot to reply. I have only done foiling with glue, tape, and laminator, don't want to buy any fancy foiling machines either.

What a great post. I'm excited to see the new bees too. I'm with you about city driving. Although my cities are not as big as Boston. I did not know you gave your kidney to your husband. That is truly wonderful. I hope all went well at the doctors. Yay Pop's is open. That pizza is making my mouth water. Have a great day today.

Ugh, driving in Boston is the pits even on a good day. Glad things are going well for you, him, and the kidneys. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your hives. Yay for Pop's! Teague wants to plan another trip to the Weirs so maybe I'll get to Pop's this year. Hope you have sunshine today (Wednesday) and didn't have the downpour yesterday (Tuesday) Happy T Day

Congrats and blessings for your hubby's continued good health. And yay for Pop's being open. I don't go into Houston willingly because of the traffic. Hmm, marguerita pizza is surprisingly rare down here except for the foo-foo spots, lol. I've had it before, made with the zero flour and a crisp crust. I even think there's a Lean Cuisine frozen entree or used to be. Hope your bees arrive alive and healthy, xoxo
